What should I do if I’ve gone over my annual mileage allowance?
Can I change my mileage allowance?
If you’ve gone over your mileage allowance for one year you may not need to worry. The allowance is used to help us estimate your total mileage over the lifetime of your agreement, not each year.
Mileage increase example
If you have a 36-month agreement and your annual mileage is 10,000 miles per year.

*Excess mileage charges will be detailed in your agreement. This is just an indicative figure for the purpose of this example.
If you’ve gone over your agreed total mileage at the end of your agreement, excess mileage charges will apply at the rate outlined in your agreement.
You may be able to request a mileage decrease if you’ve had a change in circumstances that means you’re covering fewer miles each year, e.g. change in work location, moved house.
Key things to consider before requesting a change to your annual mileage:
- Mileage reschedules can only be quoted once you have paid 3 or more instalments.
- Changes to your mileage will result in a change to your monthly repayments and your agreement.
- If the change to your agreement exceeds a £25/month, we’ll need to complete a new credit check and underwriting. Approval is subject to status, and the credit check may be recorded on your file.
- We can only increase the annual mileage by a minimum of 5,000 miles over the term of the agreement.
- The minimum contractual mileage is 6,000 miles per year.
PCP Customers
If you have a PCP agreement, it’s worth considering your end of contract options before looking to change your mileage:
Purchase: If you choose to purchase the vehicle outright, the mileage at the end of the agreement will not affect you. You can do this by either paying the lumpsum off in full or you may be able to refinance your optional final payment (balloon payment), subject to eligibility and credit checks.
Return: Any excess mileage will be charged at your agreed price per mile, and end-of-contract charges will apply.
Part exchange: Mileage will be considered, exceeding your agreed mileage may reduce the vehicle’s value at part exchange.
